MLA Sponsors: Benefit for Rhabdomyosarcoma Childhood Cancer Research Fund

Morici, Longo & Associates, Chicago personal injury lawyers, helped sponsor the 13th Annual Kailyn Rhea Foundation Golf Outing on Friday, July 13th. Over 150 golfers and dozens more supporters gathered at the Buffalo Grove Golf Course for golf, food, and fundraising. The annual outing is a fundraiser dedicated to the strength and spirit of Kailyn Rhea who died at age 14 in 2007 after a 3 year battle with childhood cancer. In July 2004, Kailyn was diagnosed with alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare cancer of muscles in children. Shortly after she was diagnosed, the 11 year old started collecting hats for cancer patients who had lost their hair during chemotherapy. In the same year, Kailyn decided to start the Kailyn Rhea Foundation to raise money for pediatric cancer research and to help other children with the disease.

Kailyn’s strength, determination and generosity while battling her cancer was a source of inspiration for family and friends. Partner, James J. Morici, Jr. and Kailyn’s dad, Jerry Rhea have been friends since junior high and played at the Neighborhood Boys and Girls Club in Chicago’s Near North side. MLA Marketing Director, Beba Georgieva was present at the event.
