The law firm of Morici, Longo & Associates recently settled multiple workers’ compensation claims for a police officer in a suburb located outside Chicago for the sum of approximately $355,000.00. The police officer was injured in several incidents and was required to undergo multiple surgeries to his left knee and treatment for a significant low back injury. As a result of these serious injuries incurred while performing his job duties as a police officer, he was unable to return to work in the field of law enforcement and the firm also argued that he was disabled from performing any other types of jobs in the labor market.
The firm successfully represented the police officer in his application for a line of duty disability pension benefit and he was awarded that benefit as provided for under the Illinois Pension Code. Subsequent to that award for a line of duty disability pension benefit, the multiple workers’ compensation claims filed at the Illinois Workers’ Compensation Commission on behalf of that same police officer were resolved on a disputed basis with the workers’ compensation insurance carrier and his employer for a sum totaling approximately $355,000.00.
