Texting while driving is illegal in Illinois

Cell phone usage is illegal for drivers under 19 years of age, learner’s permit holders, school bus drivers and all motorists while driving in school and construction zones. Additionally, there are various local municipalities including Chicago which ban mobile phone usage regardless of age.

Always be cautious when making calls while driving. Distracted driving can be a significant safety hazard, especially when you are traveling in heavy traffic or under poor weather conditions.

TIP: Put down the phone and concentrate on the road. If you need to make a phone call, or reply to an email or write a text message / SMS, pull over to a safe or designated area and take care of such matters while parked not while driving.
