Illinois raises speed limit

As of January 1, 2014 a new speed law goes into effect. Illinois has increased its top speed limit to 70 mph as of the New Year. Close to a thousand signs will be erected along Illinois interstates in the month of January.

A lot of us will be traveling to celebrate the New Year; here are a few safety tips when driving:

• Get plenty of rest and sleep;
• Plan ahead and be flexible with your travel plans;
• Take frequent breaks when driving long distances;
• Drive with accordance to the posted speed limit; 
• Never drive impaired.
