Icy roads cause 22 car pile-up; 7 injured

Icy road conditions Wednesday night led to a 22-vehicle pileup in Oak Brook, resulting in multiple injuries. Paramedics were dispatched at 8:07 p.m. Wednesday to the northbound Tri-State I-294 ramp to the westbound Reagan I-88 in Oak Brook. The ramp was completely closed as 29 people were assessed for injuries, among whom seven were sent to local hospitals. Officials late Wednesday could not comment on the extent or severity of the injuries that occurred.
Assisting Oak Brook paramedics with the injured were further ambulances from Oakbrook Terrace, Hinsdale, Western Springs, Elmhurst and Hillside. Paramedics from Lombard, York Center and Clarendon Hills
