An elderly Blue Island motorist died Wednesday night after a crash on the South Side.
Willa Onaya, 73, of Blue Island, was the driver of a vehicle involved in a crash at 9600 S. King Dr. and was pronounced dead at 8:08 p.m. Wednesday at John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.
Police News Affairs Officer John Mirabelli said Onaya was driving a vehicle that struck a tree about 7:20 p.m. Wednesday, according to preliminary information.
An autopsy is scheduled for later Thursday, the medical examiner’s office said.
