One motorist died and another was injured in a two-car crash this morning on Golf Road near north suburban Morton Grove, a Cook County sheriff's police spokeswoman said.
The crash happened at about 10:30 a.m. on Golf a mile west of Harms Road, said Lisa Gordon, the spokeswoman.
One of the cars was headed west and veered over the center line into oncoming traffic, striking the other car, she said. The driver of the westbound vehicle had to be extricated from the vehicle by firefighters.
That person was taken to Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge and pronounced dead, Gordon said. The other driver was taken to the same hospital and had been stabilized.
There was no indication thus far that alcohol was a factor in the crash, Gordon said.
Police have closed down Golf between Harms and Waukegan Road.
